WASHINGTON – Commercial Window Shield has begun a security window film project at a downtown Washington building four doors from the White House, the third such project at 1750 Pennsylvania Ave. since 2016.

The project, for tenant United Nations Foundation, involves installing 7-mil clear security and 8-mil solar security film with a wet glaze attachment on 4 ½ of the building’s 11 floors. Old solar reflective film already installed on windows facing west on the building’s G Street side will be removed and solar/security film will be installed in its place. The standard 7-mil clear shatter-resistant film with wet glaze attachment will be installed on the non-west facing windows.

Previously, the building’s owner, JBG Smith, hired Commercial Window Shield to complete similar glass protection and solar control window film installation projects for the building’s other 6 ½ floors. Those projects involved federal government tenants, including the U.S. Treasury Department.

As the building is fully occupied, Commercial Window Shield engineers and installers are working closely with the tenant to avoid conflicting with work schedules. The project began May 25 and will be completed on schedule in six to 10 days.

Commercial Window Shield is one of the country’s largest installers of security and solar control window films. Among the hundreds of projects the company has completed in its 30+  years are the U.S. Capitol, all House of Representative and Library of Congress buildings, Pentagon, FBI headquarters, Grand Central Terminal, Merrill Lynch headquarters, O’Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], the United Nations, and the Philadelphia and Denver mints.
