SUBURBAN CHICAGO SCHOOL DISTRICT RETAINS CWS TO SECURE GLASS IN 9 SCHOOL BUILDINGS
GENEVA, Ill. A suburban Chicago school district has awarded a shatter resistant window film installation contract to Commercial Window Shield to help protect its school buildings against violent intruders.
The company’s bid was selected by Geneva Community Unit School District 304.
The project calls for the installation of multiple-ply security film with 4-sided perimeter wet glaze attachment to entryways and other vulnerable first-floor glass in nine school buildings.
Commercial Window Shield is working with the project architect, who asked for a national brand of security film to be installed. However, the company supplied data and test results for an equivalent film that was accepted and presented a more affordable solution.
Funding for the project comes from an Illinois Emergency Management Agency grant. Commercial Window Shield is working closely with the project architect and school officials to maximize glass protection with their grant funds.
The project will begin later this fall. Installation work will be coordinated with school officials since classes will be in session. All Commercial Window Shield installers have passed school security clearance requirements.
The Geneva project comes at a time when school districts around the country are acting to protect their buildings from potential violent intrusions. Commercial Window Shield has become the country’s go-to company in school building glass security. The company recently completed similar projects at 26 school buildings for Calvert County [Md.] Public Schools and two buildings for Bath Local Schools, near Lima, Ohio. Previously, the company was hired for security window film installation projects at 36 school districts in Long Island, N.Y., and Glastonbury and Simsbury school districts in Connecticut.
With nearly 35 years experience, Commercial Window Shield is the nation’s leading security and solar reflective window film installer. Among its many projects in the nation’s capitol region, the company has protected windows at the U.S. Capitol, Pentagon, and all House of Representative buildings. Nationwide, the company has completed projects at O’Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], Denver Mint, Grand Central Terminal and George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
