Ohio School District Retains CWS to Protect its Vulnerable Windows and Entryways
MECHANICSBURG, Ohio — Mechanicsburg Exempted Village School District has hired Commercial Window Shield to protect vulnerable windows and entryways in buildings housing its high school, middle school and elementary school students and teachers
The company will install 8-mil safety and security film with a Dow 995 wet glaze attachment system to all first floor windows and entryways. The film helps keep out unwanted intruders from school buildings, giving law enforcement officials precious time to respond to any unforeseen event.
The project will begin and be completed during the school’s summer break.
With school intrusions and shootings escalating, the Mechanicsburg project continues a national trend in which school districts are acting to protect their buildings from potential violent intruders with the installation of shatter resistant window film. Commercial Window Shield, a leader in the field, has received widespread praise for its anti-blast film installation work at schools.
“The installation team performed above our high level of expectation,” said William C. Salee, construction manager for a safety and security film project at Rockwell [Texas] Independent School District in suburban Dallas. “They worked very efficiently, went out of their way to avoid any distractions for the building occupants, and completed the project in less time than had been anticipated. We are very pleased with the quality of the workmanship of the installation.”
Since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in 2012, Commercial Window Shield has been at the forefront of protecting glass in school buildings nationwide. To date, the company has installed security window film on more than 300 buildings in nine states.
In addition to the Mechanicsburg and Rockwell projects, the company has completed safety and security film installation projects at Geneva, Minooka and Lake Zurich school districts in suburban Chicago; Calvert and Carroll Country [Md.] public schools; Bath Local Schools, near Lima, Ohio; Hewlett-Woodmere and Bellmore public schools, N.Y.; Hartford, Glastonbury and Simsbury school districts in Connecticut; Henry County in Virginia; and in Katy, Texas, Beaverton, Ore. and Lansdale, Pa.
School safety is just one area of expertise for Commercial Window Shield. With over 35 years experience the company is one of the nation’s leading safety and security, and solar control window film installers. Its projects cover a vast array of buildings and include some of the country’s most famous landmarks. They include the U.S. Capitol, FBI headquarters, Pentagon, all House of Representative and Library of Congress buildings, O’Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], Denver and Philadelphia mints, Grand Central Terminal, Merrill Lynch towers and Ernst & Young headquarters in New York; and George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
