WASHINGTON  Commercial Window Shield is completing a second project in three years at a downtown Washington building four doors from the White House.

The project, at 1750 Pennsylvania Ave., is the result of the building’s largest tenant, the U.S. Treasury Department, adding office space.

Previously, Commercial Window Shield installed more than 8,000 square feet of 7-mil clear and 8-mil solar security film with wet glaze attachment on six of the building’s 11 floors. With the Treasury Department taking over part of a seventh floor, the company will install the same films on windows on that floor.

As with the first project, old solar reflective film already installed on windows facing west will be removed and solar/security film will be installed in its place.  The standard 7-mil clear shatter-resistant film with wet glaze attachment will be installed on the non-west facing windows.

The project is the latest of more than 25 completed for Vornado/Charles E. Smith by Commercial Window Shield involving security requirements for federal government tenants in privately-owned buildings upon lease renewal.

Commercial Window Shield is the country’s largest installer of security and solar window films.  Among the hundreds of projects the company has completed in its 30 years are the U.S. Capitol, all House of Representative and Library of Congress buildings, Pentagon, FBI headquarters, Grand Central Terminal, Merrill Lynch headquarters, O’Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], the United Nations, and the Philadelphia and Denver mints.
