KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. Commercial Window Shield has completed a security window film installation project at a Internal Revenue Service building in western West Virginia.
The project involved installing 8-mil clear security film on all the exterior windows of the building, protecting 35,000 sq. ft. of glass. Additionally, roller window shades were installed on some of the glass.
The safety and security film work was part of a 3-year construction and renovation project involving the consolidation of three IRS Enterprising Computing Centers into the Kearneysville building. Facility Support Services, a Gibsonia, Pa., construction company, was awarded the bid over two other companies. FSS chose Commercial Window Shield for the glass protection component because of the company’s vast experience in safety and security window film installation spanning 35 years.
The General Services Administration, which represents all federal government tenants who lease space in privately-owned buildings, determined the building a high risk under its leasing program’s security guidelines. The safety and security film will hold the building’s glass in place in case of any catastrophic terrorist or weather event, protecting the occupants.

Among the hundreds of projects the company has completed in its 35 years are the U.S. Capitol, all House of Representative and Library of Congress buildings, the Pentagon, FBI headquarters, Grand Central Terminal, Merrill Lynch headquarters, O’Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], the United Nations, and the Philadelphia and Denver mints.
