KATY TEXAS SCHOOLS RETAIN CWS FOR 55-BUILDING SAFETY AND SECURITY FILM INSTALLION PROJECT
KATY, Texas The Katy Independent School District, one of the country’s fastest growing school systems, has hired Commercial Window Shield to protect the glass in its buildings.
The company will install 15-mil safety and security film with a Dow 995 wet glaze attachment system to the doors and windows in the main entrance vestibules in 55 school buildings. The film secures the glass, thwarting quick entrance from potential intruders.
Commercial Window Shield was the lowest and most experienced of five bidders on the project. Funding for the project is part of a $748 million bond approved by voters in 2014.
Katy, located in suburban Houston, is adding 5,000 students a year and is up to 70,000 students total, placing it in the top 50 in the country.
Work on the project began July 25. The projected completion date is around Aug. 22, the first day of classes.
The Katy project continues a national trend in which school districts are acting to protect their buildings from potential violent intruders with the installation of safety and security window film. Including Katy, the company has protected the glass in more than 175 school buildings in nine states.
Elsewhere, the company has completed safety and security film projects at Geneva, Minooka and Lake Zurich school districts in suburban Chicago; Calvert County [Md.] Public Schools; Bath Local Schools, near Lima, Ohio; Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools, N.Y.; Glastonbury and Simsbury school districts in Connecticut; Henry County in Virginia; and in Beaverton, Ore. and Lansdale, Pa.
With more than 30 years experience, Commercial Window Shield is one of the nation’s leading safety and security, and solar control window film installers. Among its many projects, the company has protected windows at the U.S. Capitol, FBI headquarters, Pentagon, all House of Representative buildings, O’Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], Denver Mint, Grand Central Terminal and George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
Among its current projects is a solar control film installation project on all glass at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
