Safety and security film
The Katy Independent School District is one of the country’s fastest growing school systems. Katy, located in suburban Houston, is adding 5,000 students a year and is up to more than 70,000 students total, placing it in the top 50 in the country. Like many school systems, school officials were concerned about the threat of violent building invasions and wanted to better protect their students, faculty and other employees.
Commercial Window Shield was by far the most experienced of the five bidders on the project and was awarded the work. We installed 15-mil safety and security film with a wet glaze attachment system to all doors and windows in main entrance vestibules in 55 school buildings. Funding for the project was part of a $748 million bond approved by voters. The project was so successful, Commercial Window Shield was retained for a Phase 2, which included installed safety and security window film on additional buildings in the Katy Schools district.
