OREGON SCHOOL DISTRICT PICKS COMMERCIAL WINDOW SHIELD TO SECURE BUILDINGS GLASS
BEAVERTON, Ore. In another boost to its expanding schools market, Commercial Window Shield has secured a glass protection contract with Beaverton School District in Oregon.
The project calls for installation of 8-mil safety and security window film with a Dow 995 wet glaze attachment system to vulnerable entry and first-floor windows at 13 Beaverton schools.
The project, one of many security upgrades being completed by the district after a $10 million bond issue passed last year, was competitively bid. Commercial Window Shield was selected based on its expertise in installing security film in schools nationwide.
First Cascade Corp. of Lake Oswego, Ore., will serve as general contractor for the project. Work will begin in September and be completed in two phases. The school district hired a national security expert to evaluate its school buildings prior to developing its security upgrade initiative.
The Beaverton project continues a national trend in which school districts are acting to protect their buildings from potential violent intruders. To date, the company has protected the glass in more than 100 school buildings in eight states.
Elsewhere, the company has completed safety and security film projects at Geneva, Minooka and Lake Zurich school districts in suburban Chicago; Calvert County [Md.] Public Schools; Bath Local Schools, near Lima, Ohio; Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools, N.Y.; Glastonbury, Hartford and Simsbury school districts in Connecticut; and Henry County in Virginia.
With more than 30 years experience, Commercial Window Shield is one of the nation’s leading security and solar window film installers. Among its many projects, the company has protected windows at the U.S. Capitol, Pentagon, and all House of Representative buildings, O’Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], Denver and Philadelphia mints, Grand Central Terminal and George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
