Project Detail

The Katy Independent School District is one of the country’s fastest growing school systems in the country. Katy, located in suburban Houston, is adding 5,000 students a year and is up to 70,000 students total, placing it in the top 50 in the country.

Like many school systems, school officials were concerned about the threat of violent building invasions and wanted to better protect their students, faculty and other employees.

Commercial Window Shield was by far the most experienced of the five bidders on the project and was awarded the work. Funding for the project was part of a $748 million bond approved by voters in 2014.

The project was completed in early 2017. Commercial Window Shield also has been awarded Phase 2 in a glass protection project that will involve additional buildings in the district. That project is expected to begin in 2018.
