Gilbane Chooses CWS for Phase 3 of High-Security Department of Defense Project
ARLINGTON, Va. – Commercial Window Shield has been retained for a third phase of a security window film installation project in a Washington, D.C.-area building housing a high-profile U.S. Department of Defense tenant.
The project, on one floor at an undisclosed location in Crystal City because of security concerns, involves installing 7-mil security film on windows in the unclassified offices and 8-mil RF blast film on windows in the classified offices.
Gilbane Building Co., is the project’s general contractor and hired Commercial Window Shield as part of its construction team for the floor’s build-out. HITT was the general contractor on the first two phases of the project that took place on two floors of a building next door. DoD also is the tenant on those floors and the work completed by Commercial Window Shield there is the same as the Gilbane project.
Phase 1 was completed in May. Phase 2 will begin this winter and Phase 3 will follow.
Commercial Window Shield is one of the country’s largest installer of security and solar window films. The company has been active in the national capitol region for more than 35 years. Its solar reflection and security window film projects include the U.S. Capitol, all House of Representative and Library of Congress buildings, Pentagon, and FBI headquarters. Other notable projects include Grand Central Terminal, Merrill Lynch headquarters, O’Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], the United Nations, and the Philadelphia and Denver mints.
