CWS SELECTED BY VORNADO FOR SOLAR REFLECTIVE WINDOW FILM INSTALLATION AT CRYSTAL PLAZA 1
ARLINGTON, Va. One of the national capitol region’s most prominent property management companies has selected one of the country’s leading security and solar reflective window film installation companies for an energy-saving window film project at its Crystal Plaza 1 building in Arlington, Va.
In a competitive bid process, Commercial Window Shield was awarded the contract by Vornado/Charles E. Smith. The two companies have a long history together. CWS has completed more than 30 security window film installation projects at Vornado-leased buildings over the past five years under the General Service Administration’s lease renewal security requirements.
The Crystal Plaza 1 project involves two phases. In Phase 1, CWS will remove solar reflective film from the buildings windows that is more than 20 years old. CWS will then install a new, silver reflective film on 1,177 panes of glass in the 12-story building.
The solar reflective film helps repel sunlight, reducing the building’s energy costs and keeping the people who work there comfortable. Since the initial solar film on the building lasted more than 20 years, the original project paid for itself years ago.
Work will begin in early May and be completed by early summer.
Over the past 30 years, Commercial Window Shield has installed security and solar reflective window film on some of the country’s most significant buildings. They include the U.S. Capitol, House of Representatives, Pentagon, FBI headquarters, Grand Central Terminal, Merrill Lynch headquarters, O Hare International Airport and the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower].
