NORTHERN VIRGINIA – A Rhode Island construction company has hired Commercial Window Shield to install a combination fragment retention and radio frequency shielding window film for a high-security federal government tenant at an undisclosed Northern Virginia building.

 

The project, directed by Gilbane Inc. of Providence, involves installing shatter resistant window film with RF capabilities on 116 panes of glass on a single floor in the building. A wet glaze attachment system will be used to adhere the film to the window frames.

 

The blast resistant component of the film keeps the glass from shattering in the advent of an explosion or foul weather event. The radio frequency shielding component – known as RF – prevents electronic eavesdropping and theft of secure and classified information from computers and cell phones through window glass. Its dual capability has given it the name RF Blast film.

 

Gilbane, which is renovating a number of floors in the building, has hired Commercial Window Film for similar RF Blast film installation projects on other floors in the same building. In total, the company has completed more than 12 security window film installation projects of various kinds for Gilbane in the past decade.

 

Additionally, HITT Contracting of Falls Church, Va., which is also doing renovation work in the building, hired Commercial Window Shield for a RF Blast film installation project last year for a different floor in the same building. HITT and Commercial Window Shield have collaberated on numerous security window film installation projects over the years.
