CWS Completes Security Film Installation Project At Long Island School District
BELLMORE, N.Y. — Commercial Window Shield has completed a safety and security window film installation project at a New York state school district.
The project involved installing a 21-mil clear film with a perimeter wet glaze attachment system on all first floor windows and doors of the three elementary school buildings in the Bellmore Union Free School District. The district initiated the project to protect its students, faculty and employees against unwanted intrusions and foul weather events.
The company was the low bidder on the project but was also selected because of the quality of its bid package and its considerable experience in security window film installation.
This experience paid dividends during the bid process when Commercial Window Shield engineers advised Bellmore officials that the job specification calling for the security film to achieve ballistic resistance was not possible. Once clarified, the specification was revised from ballistic resistant to anti-intrusion as the end result of the safety and security film installation.
The Bellmore project continues a national trend in which school districts are acting to protect their buildings from potential violent intruders with the installation of safety and security window film. Including Bellmore, the company has protected the glass in more than 250 school buildings in nine states.
Elsewhere, the company has completed safety and security film projects at Geneva, Minooka and Lake Zurich school districts in suburban Chicago; Calvert County [Md.] Public Schools; Bath Local Schools, near Lima, Ohio; Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools, N.Y.; Glastonbury and Simsbury school districts in Connecticut; Henry County in Virginia; Beaverton, Ore.; Lansdale, Pa.; and Katy and Rockwell schools districts in Texas.
With more than 30 years experience, Commercial Window Shield is one of the nation’s leading security and solar control window film installers. Among its many projects, the company has protected windows at the U.S. Capitol, FBI headquarters, Pentagon, all House of Representative buildings, O’Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], Denver Mint, Grand Central Terminal and George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
