CWS COMPLETES PHASE 2 OF GLASS PROTECTION PROJECT AT HARTFORD SCHOOLS
HARTFORD, Conn. Commercial Window Shield has completed the second phase of a district-wide glass protection project at Hartford Public Schools.
The company installed .8-mil security window film with a Dow 995 attachment system on vulnerable first-floor windows and all entryways in nine school buildings.
Last year, the company installed safety and security window film on the entryways and vulnerable first-floor windows in five school buildings. Hartford school officials were so pleased with the quality of the work and performance, they decided to extend Commercial Window Shield’s contract to include Phase 2 without sending the project out for bid.
The security film strengthens the glass, makes it shatter resistant and very hard for an unwanted intruder to enter the building, providing more time for school officials and law enforcement officers to react.
The Hartford project continues a national trend in which school districts are acting to protect their buildings from potential violent intruders. To date, the company has installed security window film in more than 120 school buildings in nine states.
Elsewhere, the company has completed safety and security film projects at Geneva, Minooka and Lake Zurich school districts in suburban Chicago; Calvert County [Md.] Public Schools; Bath Local Schools, near Lima, Ohio; Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools, N.Y.; Glastonbury and Simsbury school districts in Connecticut; Henry County in Virginia; and in Beaverton, Ore. and Lansdale, Pa.
With nearly 30 years experience, Commercial Window Shield is the nation’s leading security and solar reflective window film installer. Among its scores of projects, the company has protected windows at the U.S. Capitol, FBI headquarters, Pentagon, and all House of Representative buildings, O’Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], Denver Mint, Grand Central Terminal and George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
