CONNECTICUT TOWN TAPS CWS TO SECURE WINDOWS IN NINE SCHOOL BUILDINGS
GLASTONBURY, Conn. In the wake of increased violent intrusions in schools across the country, the Town of Glastonbury, Conn. has hired the country’s leading installer of fragment retention film to protect the windows and doors in its school buildings.
Commercial Window Shield began installing a 8-mil clear film with a DOW 995 attachment on Aug. 24. The project will secure all the windows and doors in one high school, two middle school and six elementary school buildings that house more than 7,000 students and 550 teachers. The installation of the film on the windows and doors will help keep unwanted intruders from entering the school buildings, protecting the students and teachers.
The film will also help protect the windows during hurricanes – such as Irene in 2011 and Sandy last year and tornadoes.
CWS was hired for a similar project by 36 school districts in Long Island last month. Company installers are working off hours and on weekends to keep from interfering with school activities. The project is expected to be completed on time on Sept. 7.
With nearly 35 years experience, Commercial Window Shield is the nation’s leading security and solar reflective window film installer. In the northeast, CWS’s projects include Merrill Lynch’s twin corporate headquarter towers, across from Ground Zero; Grand Central Terminal; Ernst & Young headquarters; and the YMCA in Brooklyn. Elsewhere, the company has protected windows at the U.S. Capitol, Pentagon, all House of Representative buildings, O Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], Denver Mint and George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
