CHICAGO-AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT HIRES CWS TO PROTECT GLASS, STUDENTS IN EIGHT BUILDINGS
LAKE ZURICH, Ill. – As school districts in Illinois continue their push to secure their buildings and protect their students, Commercial Window Shield has been awarded a third contract in the Chicago area to install safety and security window film.
The contract, with Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95, calls for the company to install the film on the entryway glass of eight Lake Zurich school buildings.
The safety and security film protects the glass and makes it extremely difficult for an unwanted intruder to enter the buildings.
Commercial Window Shield was the lowest of six bidders on the project, which originally stipulated that a nationally known brand of film be used. However, CWS engineers recommended an equivalent film which Lake Zurich officials approved.
The project is being funded by a grant from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, which in 2014 awarded grants totaling $25 million to 448 school districts, community colleges and state universities to secure their buildings.
Nothing is more important in Illinois than keeping our schools safe, said Gov. Pat Quinn in announcing the grants.
The Lake Zurich project, which will begin in the spring, comes at a time when school districts around the country are acting to protect their buildings from potential violent intrusions. Commercial Window Shield has become one of the country’s go-to companies in glass security for school buildings. Also in the Chicago area, the company has completed installation projects at Minooka and Geneva school districts.
Elsewhere, Commercial Window Shield has completed safety and security film projects at Calvert County [Md.] Public Schools; Bath Local Schools, near Lima, Ohio; Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools, N.Y.; and Glastonbury, Hartford and Simsbury school districts in Connecticut.
With nearly 35 years experience, Commercial Window Shield is the nation’s leading security and solar reflective window film installer. Among its many projects, the company has protected windows at the U.S. Capitol, Pentagon, and all House of Representative buildings, O’Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], Denver and Philadelphia mints, Grand Central Terminal and George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
