Private Catholic School Hires CWS to Protect Windows, Save Energy in K-8 Building
NORFOLK, Va. – Commercial Window Shield has been awarded a contract by St. Patrick Catholic School for a project that will protect windows in its building and help conserve energy.
The project involves installing a combination 8 mil solar control and security film with a wet glaze attachment system on 420 panes of glass covering more than 5,000 square feet. All ground floor windows, entranceways and the school’s courtyard area windows will be protected by the security window film.
Additionally, the school – home to more than 400 K-8 grade students – will benefit from the energy saving component of the solar control window film. To help offset the project’s cost, St. Patrick will receive a rebate from Dominion Energy, which supports energy-saving efforts by schools and businesses in Virginia.
The project, which will begin July 9, will be completed on schedule by the end of the month.
Since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in 2012, Commercial Window Shield has been at the forefront of protecting glass in school buildings nationwide. To date, the company has installed safety and security window film on more than 300 buildings in nine states.
In addition to the St. Patrick project, the company has completed security window film installation projects at Geneva, Minooka and Lake Zurich school districts in suburban Chicago; Calvert and Carroll County [Md.] public schools; Bath Local Schools, near Lima, Ohio; Hewlett-Woodmere and Bellmore public schools, N.Y.; Hartford, Glastonbury and Simsbury school districts in Connecticut; Henry County in Virginia; and in Katy, Texas, Beaverton, Ore. and Lansdale, Pa.
School safety is just one area of expertise for Commercial Window Shield. With over 35 years experience the company is one of the nation’s leading security and solar control window film installers. Its projects cover a vast array of buildings and include some of the country’s most famous landmarks. They include the U.S. Capitol, FBI headquarters, Pentagon, all House of Representative and Library of Congress buildings, O’Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], Denver and Philadelphia mints, Grand Central Terminal, Merrill Lynch towers and Ernst & Young headquarters in New York; and George R.
