Edwards Air Force Base - California
As the originator of America's first jet powered flight as well as numerous other landmark events in aviation, Edwards Air Force Base has been at the forefront of flight innovation for more than fifty years. Even NASA depends on Edwards where they can safely land the space shuttle.
Commercial Window Shield understands the dedication necessary to achieve this type of singular distinction. For over thirty years Commercial Window Shield has sharpened its focus on the installation of window films. Throughout the decades it's been contracted to apply safety window films to several government buildings. And now Commercial Window Shield has added Edwards Air Force Base to that list.
Commercial Window Shield secured 502 panes of glass on the central command office with heavy gauge fragment retention film. Each window film was attached using four-sided mechanical attachments. The four-sided, Blastight attachment system is the strongest of its type. Through state-of-the-art engineering, Blastight is able to withstand formidable blast pressures without glass penetration. The reduction of flying glass simultaneously reduces injuries, helping to keep the men and women of Edwards Air Force Base protected and secure.
In order to install the fragment retention film, Commercial Window Shield required security clearance. Having applied security film to the windows of the U.S. Capitol Building, Houses of Congress, the DOE and FBI Headquarters, the firm received the clearance and maintained the level of professionalism and confidentiality necessary to complete the project.
Fragment retention film protects building occupants from suffering injuries due to flying glass. Please call, fax or e-mail Commercial Window Shield with questions or if you are considering fragment retention film for your building. We can offer suggestions, pricing estimates and samples. If you are interested in this project, or any of our other work please contact us and we will supply you with contact names and phone numbers.
"I am pleased with the way the work turned out. Both Phil and Tom did a great job. ... I had a few comments by some of the people in the building as to how well the film was applied."
James E Creighton, Staff Agency Security Manager & Anti-terrorism/Force Protection Manager
