We supplied and installed clear 8-mil fragment retention film with 4-sided perimeter silicone attachment to various windows located within the Boeing Long Beach facility. Boeing does defense contracting and what they do is over seen by the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA). DCMA has a requirement that glass be protected with fragment retention film (FRF) and the FRF must meet a GSA protection level "3a". The film we used on this project was manufactured by Commonwealth Laminating and Coating. Their SunTek brand films were recently blast tested by an independent testing firm following GSA criteria. The 8-mil film we installed achieved a protection level "2" with 4-sided perimeter silicone attachment. A level "2" is the highest possible protection level possible using fragment retention films.
Here's what the project coordinator had to say: "Everything went great. Phil is a very nice guy and a great worker. He had the place all cleaned up and explained everything to the Supervisor of the area and myself. I really like the silicone sealer, the other company that did our other windows did not do that. The supervisor of the area was very impressed also."
